Police said that the driver of an SUV was going south on the Southfield Freeway when another vehicle pulled up next to it and started shooting. 5-year-old boy mauled by dogs on Detroit’s west side
DETROIT – A 5-year-old boy who was attacked by two dogs Friday morning is expected to survive. Police said the boy was feeding five large dogs with the owner, a 36-year-old man, when the man left the room for a few minutes and when he came back, he saw two dogs attacking the child. “We heard the dogs being taken out in the trucks,” West recalled. Neighbors said they often saw the dogs just roaming around the street. He would say, ‘Get away from the dogs,’” West said.

Driver shoots at another vehicle on I-96 shortly after they crashed in Detroit, police say
DETROIT – Police are looking for an individual accused of shooting at vehicles on I-96 early Sunday morning following a car crash they were involved in. Michigan State Police say at about 12:10 a.m. a woman’s vehicle was shot at while driving on I-96. According to the woman and other witnesses, the shooter was involved in a car crash with the victim prior to the reported shooting, police say. The victim and the suspect collided in Detroit at Grand River Avenue and Linsday Street. Another driver reportedly approached police as they spoke with the victim, saying his vehicle was also struck by gunfire related to the incident.

Shooting victim’s vehicle blocks lane, causes crash on Southfield Freeway
DETROIT – Michigan State Police said troopers were dispatched about 3:20 a.m. Monday to northbound Southfield Freeway (M-39) just north of 8 Mile Road after the report of a shooting in Detroit. There had been a shooting that police believe happened on 7 Mile Road near the Southfield Freeway. The victim fled the area after being shot, entered northbound Southfield Freeway but came to a rest on the freeway, blocking the left northbound lane just north of 8 Mile Road. Another vehicle that was not involved in the shooting rear-ended the shooting victim’s vehicle. State police said the shooting victim fled the crash scene on foot and was located by Southfield police.

Weekend freeway shootings in Metro Detroit bring total to 19 since June
Since June, Metro Detroit freeways have continued to see an upward trend in shootings. Two freeway shootings took place in Metro Detroit over the weekend, bringing the total number since June to 19. The most recent freeway shooting took place around 11:30 p.m. Sunday night at the intersection of I-94 and I-75. Sunday’s freeway shooting came just one day after another shooting in Southfield that investigators say was a product of road rage. Michigan State Police say they don’t know why there have been so many of these shootings this year, but want drivers to think twice before driving aggressively.

The driver told police his car was shot multiple times by someone in a Maserati somewhere between McNichols and Eight Mile roads. That’s when the victim claims the Maserati driver fired shots and fled northbound. Lt. Mike Shaw with Michigan State Patrol urges drivers to avoid engaging in arguments while on the road. Tow truck driver rushed to hospital after single-car crash in Allen Park
ALLEN PARK, Mich. – The driver of a tow truck was rushed to the hospital early Saturday morning after colliding with the eastbound I-94 bridge in Allen Park, according to officials. Michigan State Police say at about 5:35 a.m. the driver lost control of the vehicle while driving southbound on Southfield Freeway. Officials say the driver was trapped in the vehicle and was removed by the fire department. He was then rushed to a hospital and listed in serious, but stable, condition. The westbound I-94 ramp to southbound Southfield Freeway was initially closed for repairs but has been reopened.
35-year-old woman killed in drive-by shooting on Detroit’s west side
DETROIT – A 35-year-old woman was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting Sunday morning. Police said it happened at about 2:30 a.m. near the intersection of Woodmont and Diversey avenues, just east of the Southfield Freeway. Police said the suspect and the vehicle are unknown. Dearborn Police investigate death of Taylor woman, reward offered for information
The 34-year-old woman was found in a field just north of Home Depot on Ford Road in Dearborn. After responding officers and Detroit Fire Department immediately rendered aid to the woman, Detroit Fire Department pronounced the woman deceased at the scene.
