On July 19, 2025, he was arraigned on the charges of open murder, felony firearm and carrying a concealed weapon. Sullivan was also denied bond.

These charges stem from a deadly shooting that happened on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, in the parking lot of the Ichiban restaurant at 4641 Washtenaw Avenue in Pittsfield Township. Police say the victim and two suspects had gotten into an argument, which led to the shooting.

Deryl Timothy Banks, a 35-year-old Romulus man, was shot multiple times and drove himself to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries, according to police.

Detectives continued to investigate the case, which led to Sullivan’s arrest last week.

The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Pittsfield Township Police Department’s Confidential Tip Line at 734-822-4958.
