He was accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl who ran away from the Vista Maria facility for vulnerable children in Dearborn Heights.
The girl ran away on March 14, 2025, and was missing for nearly six weeks. Police said they found her on April 23 at Darwiche’s home in Dearborn Heights.
Darwiche appeared at the sentencing hearing via Zoom from Calhoun County Jail.
The teen was also present at the sentencing via Zoom but did not make a victim impact statement in the hearing.
Darwiche chose not to provide a statement in the hearing before the judge sentenced him.
As part of a plea agreement, Darwiche was sentenced to three years of probation and is required to be on the sex offender registry. He was also ordered not to contact the teen.
According to the judge, Darwiche also faces the possibility of deportation.
