WAYNE COUNTY, Mich. – The man linked to a runaway Dearborn Heights teenager is expected to be sentenced on Friday.
Prosecutors said Kamal Abou Darwiche, 62, sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl who ran away from the Vista Maria facility for vulnerable children in Dearborn Heights.
In early July, he pleaded guilty to attempted child sexually abusive material and harboring a juvenile. All other charges were dismissed.
The girl ran away on March 14, 2025, and was missing for nearly six weeks. Police said they found her on April 23 at Darwiche’s home in Dearborn Heights.
Darwiche’s sentencing hearing is scheduled to be held on July 25 at 9 a.m.
