The 911 caller reported that an unknown woman who had “obvious injuries” was sitting on their porch and said that she had been kidnapped, according to Michigan State Police.
When troopers arrived, they discovered that the woman had two black eyes and bruising and abrasions across her body.
The woman told police that her boyfriend had held her against her will at his home on Cloverdale for the previous three days.
“She stated during that time he had taken her cellphone, preventing her from contacting 911, had strangled her, struck her with a liquor bottle, and during one attempt to leave, threw her down the stairs,” according to Michigan State Police.
When the suspect was sleeping, she was able to escape the home and found a residence where the homeowner appeared to be awake.
The woman was taken to a local hospital.
Troopers went to the 31-year-old suspect’s home, and he initially refused to exit, so they used a patrol car’s PA to perform callouts.
Police say the suspect’s father was removed from the home and detained without incident.
After that, the suspect later responded to the troopers’ orders and was taken into custody without incident.
He was taken to the Oakland County Jail. The case is pending a prosecutor’s review.
