OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – Two teens and an adult were seriously injured in a boat explosion in Oakland County on Sunday, officials said.
The boat explosion happened at about 1:20 p.m. on Sunday, July 27, on Pontiac Lake, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

A 45-year-old Waterford Township man, along with his 16-year-old son and his 16-year-old friend, were preparing to take a 17-foot Chris-Craft boat at the public boat launch near M-59 and Williams Lake Road when it exploded.
Officials say the boat exploded after the ignition switch was turned on.
When the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue Team and the Waterford Township Fire Department arrived at the scene, the fire had burned itself out.
One of the teens was taken to the hospital with burns across 50% of his body. He is in critical condition, according to the sheriff’s office.
The father and his son were also taken to the hospital with severe burns. They are stable, officials said.
The cause of the boat explosion is being investigated.
