I scream, you scream, and we all scream for ice cream! We learned Americans don’t just buy it - they search, obsess, and devour online data.
In a study from Coffeeness, researchers tapped into 2025 Google search trends to serve up the 11 most popular packaged ice cream brands nationwide, revealing a delicious diversity that varies state by state.
When it comes to the most popular brand across 14 states, Ben and Jerry’s dominated the map. The Vermont-based classic showed particular dominance in New England and the Northeast corridor, staying true to its regional roots.
Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams came in second. The artisanal brand takes 13 states and has a strong presence across the South, Midwest and Mid-Atlantic regions.
The Western states lean toward higher-end brands with Tillamook, Haagen-Dazs and Jeni’s capturing most of the region’s preferences.
Regional favorites include Braum’s, which dominates in Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas, and Texan brand Blue Bell, which holds strong in neighboring states Louisiana and Mississippi.
Here in Michigan, looks like Michiganders are searching the web for Hudsonville.
In order to get these results, Coffeeness analyzed search interest patterns and identified the brand with the highest relative search volume, designating it as that state’s “most popular packaged ice cream brand.”
