OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. – A 32-year-old Auburn Hills man who was accused of twice exposing himself to a group of pre-teen girls was arrested after he turned himself in to Oakland County Sheriff’s Office deputies.
Police said the suspect, accompanied by his attorney, turned himself in to deputies at the sheriff’s office Rochester Hills substation around 8:15 p.m.
Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said the suspect surrendered eight hours after his picture and a security video showed the man walking near one of the businesses where he exposed himself.
Detectives said they received multiple tips after the man’s photo and the surveillance video were released.
The incident occurred on June 29, shortly before 4 p.m., outside the Shake Shack at 66 N. Adams Road and the Barnes & Noble Bookstore at 200 N. Adams Road in the Village of Rochester Hills.
Police said the girls told detectives they were seated outside the restaurant when the suspect walked by them.
As he lifted his shirt, the girls noticed his zipper was down and he exposed himself.
Police said a few minutes later, the girls had moved in front of the bookstore when they saw the same man, who again lifted his shirt and exposed his “privates.”
As the girls yelled at the man after the second instance, police said he quickened his pace.
Several adult women were nearby and asked the girls if they needed help.
Police said the man took off running through an open-air food court and into the parking lot, where he was last seen.
Detectives are expected to turn the case over to the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office for review on Tuesday (Aug. 5).
The suspect is being held in the Oakland County Jail.
