Missing Michigan teen found at Oakland County campground with man from Illinois
AUBURN HILLS, MI -- Police arrested a 27-year-old Illinois man Saturday morning after he was found at the Hawk Woods Park and Campground with a missing Michigan teen. According to Fox 2 Detroit, police tracked the 14-year-old girl to the campground hours after she was reported missing. When police got to the campground, they found a white van in a parking spot. As police approached the van, they saw the missing teen and the suspect, identified as Damian Newman, emerging from a picnic area. Police gathered the cell phones of Newman and the teen as evidence and allegedly discovered child pornography and other sexually explicit images on Newman’s phone.

The Michigan DNR stocked approximately 4,900 adult trout in the Clinton River (Auburn Hills), Huron River (Proud Lake Recreation Area) and Spring Mill Pond (Island Lake Recreation Area) this month. The Huron River, downstream of the Proud Lake Dam, was stocked with 1,900 brown trout and 1,400 rainbow trout, all ranging in sizes from 13 to 19 inches. Spring Mill Pond was stocked with 380 brown trout and 540 rainbow trout, also ranging in size from 13 to 19 inches. In addition, 200 yearling rainbow trout were stocked in the Huron River and 300 in Spring Mill Pond. Spring Mill Pond at Island Lake Recreation Area:Closed to fishing March 15 to March 31.

AUBURN HILLS, MI – A 47-year-old woman is dead after a collision between the 2021 Jeep Wrangler she was driving and a front-end loader, police said. The woman died at the scene; her identity has not been released. A 42-year-old male city worker was operating the front-end loader; his condition has not been released, FOX 2 Detroit reports. The Auburn Hills Police Department is investigating the crash that happened around 6:30 a.m. Thursday, March 3, on Brown Road, the report said. The cause of the crash is yet to be determined.

PONTIAC, MI – A man allegedly shoved one deputy and then bit another when they responded to a fight involving handguns early Sunday morning, Oct. 3, in Pontiac, WDIV Detroit reports. The 22-year-old Auburn Hills man allegedly became aggressive when Oakland County Sheriff’s deputies were taking a 33-year-old man into custody, police said. It’s unclear whether the bite broke the skin, but the deputy was taken to a local hospital, treated and released. The 33-year-old and 22-year-old were both arrested and lodged in the Oakland County Jail pending charges. AUBURN HILLS, MI -- Top Golf is in hot water with the U.S. Department of Labor after investigators found they were not paying certain employees the overtime wages they were entitled to. According to a news release issued on Thursday, Top Golf, a popular entertainment chain known for golf driving ranges, bars, and restaurants, failed to pay $750,063 in back wages for 255 employees in 25 states. That includes a Michigan location in Auburn Hills where $6,630.11 is owed to seven employees, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. “Employers cannot evade federal overtime requirements by simply giving an employee a manager’s title,” said Wage and Hour Southwest Regional Administrator Betty Campbell in Dallas. Division investigators determined the employees did not meet the supervisory requirements and were eligible for overtime.

Michigan mom fatally shot, boyfriend in custody
AUBURN HILLS, MI – A 36-year-old Auburn Hills woman is dead after she was fatally shot at her Auburn Hills apartment early Tuesday, July 6, police said. The victim’s 13-year-old son and 32-year-old boyfriend, of Rochester Hills, were in the apartment at the time of the shooting, WDIV Local 4 reports. The boyfriend is now in police custody. The 36-year-old woman was unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound to her upper body; she was immediately taken to a hospital where she later died. Five Metro Detroit area volleyball teams are still in the hunt for a state championship after quarterfinal victories on Tuesday night. Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek will host the semifinals and finals site for all four divisions from Thursday thought Saturday. In Division 1, it was Bloomfield Hills Marian, Clarkston and Novi advancing to Friday’s state semifinals. In Division 4, Auburn Hills Oakland Christian qualified to the semifinal round set for Friday as well. A 9-1 run in the third set put Clarkston in control and it never relented.

WARREN, MI -- Police shot a burglary suspect outside of a Warren motel early Thursday morning after he allegedly tried to run over officers and rammed a police vehicle. According to WDIV Detroit, the 35-year-old suspect is in critical condition following the shooting which took place outside the Knight’s Inn motel located in the 26000 block of Dequindre Road. A police unit with Warren Special Operations had been tracking the suspect who is a known parole absconder with a criminal history. The unit followed the man to Auburn Hills where he allegedly stole a safe before returning to the motel. Once he was back at the motel, the special unit called for backup before the shooting took place.

AUBURN HILLS, MI – A 20-year-old man is charged in the drug overdose deaths of a teen girl and two brothers at a Southeast Michigan hotel over the summer, the Oakland Press reports. Lorenzo Brabo, of Lake Orion, is charged with three counts of delivery of a controlled substance causing death, according to Oakland County Jail records. The victims were brothers 20-year-old Caleb Kiessling and 18-year-old Kyler Kiessling, both of Rochester Hills, and a 17-year-old girl whose name hasn’t been released, the newspaper reports. The Kiesslings' mother told the Oakland Press that the deadly fentanyl was disguised as Percocet. He was given a $1.5M cash bond and is lodged at Oakland County Jail.

AUBURN HILLS, MI – A Michigan police officer is being praised for rescuing an unconscious driver from a fiery rollover crash in Oakland County. Auburn Hills police officer Ben Duggar was dispatched the scene of the crash on northbound I-75 near Joslyn Road at 3:41 a.m. on Nov. 7. Dispatch reported a rollover crash in which the vehicle was on fire and the occupant was trapped inside. The UAW Bargaining Committee agreed to a deal with Fiat Chrysler to add $4.5 billion in investments, translating to 7,900 jobs over the course of a four-year deal, according to a UAW statement. Fiat Chrysler confirmed in a statement that it had reached a tentative deal with UAW. It also comes nearly a month after Fiat Chrysler announced plans to merge with French automaker PSA Group. Ford agreed to $9,000 ratification bonuses, however previous contracts have included lower amounts for Fiat Chrysler workers. The federal probe into corruption of the UAW, which started with Fiat Chrysler, has led to charges against 13 people, including seven convictions of people affiliated with the union and three Fiat Chrysler executives.
