Macomb County father charged with first-degree child abuse

Father faces potential life sentence

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – A 39-year-old man from Macomb County is facing first-degree child abuse charges.

According to authorities, Michael Antonelli abused his child between May 14 and June 2, resulting in the child being taken to Children’s Hospital of Michigan. A medical evaluation reportedly found the child had several fractures that indicated intentional trauma.

Due to the sensitive nature of the case, authorities released few details.

On Thursday, Aug. 7, Antonelli was charged with first-degree child abuse. His bond was set at $250,000. If released, he’s required to wear a GPS tether and have no contact with any children, especially his own.

He remains in custody. If convicted, he faces the possibility of life behind bars.

Antonelli’s probable cause conference is scheduled for Aug. 20.
