Reports indicate that one of the cables on one of the ride’s towers detached from the ride vehicle during operation.

It was reported that the ride’s safety system worked as designed, and the vehicle returned safely to the loading position, where all guests exited without incident, and no injuries were reported.

The once signature attraction at Cedar Point, which opened in 1998, stands 300 feet tall and offers rapid ascents and sudden drops.

The Power Tower features two Space Shot towers and two Turbo Drop towers, making it the only ride of its kind in the world.

Since the initial incident, Cedar Point has not provided a timeline for reopening, but said necessary precautions would be taken before resuming operations.

Visitors are encouraged to check the Cedar Point website for updates as the review and inspection process continues.
