Stellantis’ mechanical bull mix-up: Not stolen, just misplaced

Contractor mix-up leads to bull’s unexpected journey

PONTIAC – The mystery of whether Stellantis’ custom-made mechanical bull was stolen has come to an end.

According to Stellantis, the Bucking HEMI was stolen Saturday, Aug. 9, after Roadkill Nights, a Ram-sponsored event in Pontiac.

However, the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office said the theft never occurred, and it was just in the possession of people at the company, calling the investigation a “tremendous waste” of time.

On Thursday morning (Aug. 14), a Ram representative confirmed the Bucking HEMI was accidentally taken and packed away by one of the show contractors during the event breakdown.

The mechanical bull is currently being returned to Michigan.

“We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who rallied behind us and worked to bring RAM’s Bucking HEMI® home. Notably, we are extremely grateful and sincerely appreciate the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office’s assistance in this matter.

After 67 hours of uncertainty and a 1,200-mile roundtrip journey to and from North Carolina, Bucking HEMI® has returned. It was mistakenly taken by one of the show contactors, who realized the error after media coverage brought it to their attention."
