Kimberly Lozano, 31, of Livonia is accused of shooting at her friend’s dad when she was asked to leave the home. Police said the man was not struck.
“We cannot allow people to settle conflicts with firearms,” Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido said. “The moment a weapon is drawn, what could have been a dispute becomes a life-threatening crime. When one person chooses to fire a gun in anger, they place not only the intended target at risk, but others who are nearby. Violence is not a solution; it’s a choice, and it comes with consequences.”
More officers had to help with Lozano’s arrest because she wouldn’t follow instructions, according to authorities.
She was arraigned Monday in 38th District Court in Eastpointe on the following charges:
- Assault with intent to murder -- a felony with a maximum punishment of life in prison.
- Discharging a weapon in or at a building -- a 10-year felony.
- Two felony firearm violations -- each a two-year felony that runs consecutive to the main charges.
- Assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer -- a two-year felony.
She was given a $350,000 bond, cash/surety.
A probable cause conference is scheduled for 1 p.m. Aug. 27, 2025, and a preliminary examination is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sept. 3, 2025.
These are the maximum charges available under the law based upon the evidence presented to date. Magistrate Makowski set a $350,000 cash/surety bond.
