Michigan woman expected to survive after Amish buggy struck by semi truck

BEAVERTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A 61-year-old Amish woman is expected to be OK after the buggy she was in was struck by a semi truck.

It happened just before 8 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, in Beaverton Township, about 20 miles northeast of Mount Pleasant.

According to authorities, the buggy was towing an unoccupied buggy on Beaverton Road when it was struck from behind by a semi truck. The woman in the buggy was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

A teen passenger in the buggy and the semi truck driver were not injured.

The semi truck driver was issued a traffic citation.
