Motorcyclist arrested after high-speed chase, crash in Macomb County

Motorcyclist identified through abandoned vehicle after chase

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A man has been taken into custody after evading police on a speeding motorcycle and crashing in Shelby Township.

According to authorities, the motorcycle entered the area on July 29 after eluding police from a nearby town who tried to stop the rider. Shelby Township police spotted the motorcycle and also attempted to stop it, but the rider sped off. The officer did not pursue.

The motorcycle was being tracked by a Michigan State Police helicopter, which reportedly witnessed the motorcycle crash near 32 Mile and Mound roads.

When police arrived at the crash scene, the driver had already abandoned the motorcycle and ran away.

Using the motorcycle, police identified the driver as Terrick Janiszewski, a Lapeer County resident. He was later arrested at his workplace.

On Aug. 21, Janiszewski was charged with third-degree fleeing and eluding. He was given a $10,000 cash/surety bond.
