According to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, a 21-year-old Pontiac resident was driving a Honda Civic that veered into oncoming traffic, left the road, and hit several signs and poles before returning to Montcalm Road.

It then collided with a Chevrolet Malibu stopped at a red light.

Emergency responders arrived quickly, but despite their efforts, the 37-year-old driver died at the scene.

Two young passengers, aged 6 and 4, were taken to the hospital but later died from their injuries.

A third passenger, who is 9 years old, remains hospitalized in critical condition.

The driver of the Honda Civic is in stable condition.

A preliminary investigation indicates speed might have been a major factor in the crash.

Police are also investigating the possible involvement of alcohol or drugs.

Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard expressed his condolences, saying, “This unimaginable tragedy has taken the lives of a parent and two young children. Our investigators will work tirelessly to determine the full circumstances of this incident, and we extend our deepest sympathies to the family as they navigate this profound loss.”
