DETROIT – Two people were injured in a crash on eastbound I-94 in Detroit overnight, police said.
The crash happened at about 2:50 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 1, 2025, on eastbound I-94 near Barrett, according to Michigan State Police.
Police say the driver of a Ford Flex was traveling on the freeway when he lost control, hit the center median and then crossed all lanes before striking the right side concrete wall.
The car came to a stop, blocking the right and center lanes.
The driver of a Ford Fusion couldn’t stop in time and hit the Flex.
Police say the driver of the Flex, identified as a 33-year-old man, was taken to the hospital in serious condition.
The driver in the Fusion was also taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The area was closed as troopers investigated.
Police say they are seeking a search warrant for a blood draw for the 33-year-old.
“Another preventable crash,” said Michigan State Police Lt. Mike Shaw. “We continue seeing drivers make poor decisions and get behind the wheel impaired. With so many options available to get home, driving impaired is irresponsible and puts so many people in danger.”
