DETROIT – Meet the McInnis family, a bunch of diehard Detroit Lions fans following the season through their eyes.
The McInnis family has been loyal to the Lions through thick and thin.
“That’s our family. We were loyal to the Lions, good or bad,” one family member said.
They live and breathe Lions football.
“I look forward to every game, literally, every game, the whole week,” said Parker McInnis.
The family has made following the Lions a way of life.
“I don’t care if there’s birthday parties. I don’t care if there’s communions. We’re missing it. We’re watching that game,” said Patrick McInnis.
Their passion runs deep.
“I cried when we won the first playoff game, straight up,” one family member said.
The McInnis family has been attending Lions games since the early 1990s.
“In 1993, I started taking the kids to the Pontiac Silverdome. When they were infants, held them in our laps,” Patrick said.
This season, Local 4 is following the Lions’ journey through the eyes of this devoted family, as we are the station of the fans, and the fans are helping us tell the story of the Lions.
The family is optimistic about the season ahead.
“We’re primed for the Super Bowl, right? We almost got to the Super Bowl with the practice squad defense last year, and this year, assuming everyone stays healthy, I think it’s our year,” said another family member.
The McInnis family plans to share their fan experience on and off the field, including tailgates and road trips.
Their stories, emotions, and perspectives will be featured throughout the season.
“It’s a great bonding experience,” said another family member about watching games together every Sunday.
As diehard Lions fans, the McInnis family embodies the spirit and passion of Detroit football.
