Repairs on track to start for Plymouth railroad crossing causing headaches for drivers

Repairs expected to be completed by end of October

PLYMOUTH, Mich. – For months, a railroad crossing in Plymouth has been causing headaches for drivers.

First, it was because the trains had lengthy stops, backing up traffic. Now, it’s about the tracks themselves.

More drivers have been calling the city about the railroad crossing on Farmer Street in Plymouth.

From one or two calls a month to half a dozen calls a week. So much so that the city put up signs telling people to call CSX Railroad instead.

City Manager Paul Sincock fields a lot of those calls and said after several delays, repairs are now underway. The work was paid for by the state, with a $1 million grant.

For the frustrated driver, there are finally signs of progress. The new tracks will be installed in the coming weeks.

Drivers will have to deal with detours. Repairs are expected to be done by the end of October.
