CANTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A woman was found dead inside her home in Canton Township this week, and now her husband is facing charges.

Police were called to a home on Pinehurst Drive in Canton Township at around 3:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 8, on reports of a woman not breathing.
Officers said they found Yu Zhao, 30, unresponsive in the home.
She was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Husband charged
Police said they believe Zhao’s husband, Michael Shen, strangled her around 1 a.m. the day she was found.
On Thursday, Sept. 11, Shen was charged with first-degree murder. He was denied bond and remanded to jail.
His next court date is Sept. 19.
If convicted, he could spend the rest of his life behind bars without the chance of parole.
