DETROIT – A person inside a stolen vehicle is expected to survive after being shot by Warren police.
It happened Friday, Sept. 12, at about 6:30 p.m.
According to authorities, police located a stolen GMC Acadia that had four people inside near 8 Mile and Waltham roads. When officers approached the vehicle, the vehicle reportedly sped off and hit two patrol vehicles before allegedly driving toward police officers. At least one officer opened fire on the vehicle.
Warren police chased the GMC into Detroit, where it came to a stop near Yonka Street. All four occupants were taken into custody. One person was taken to a hospital for treatment before being taken to jail.
It’s unknown if the person shot was the driver or a passenger in the GMC. No police were injured, and further details were not revealed.
The investigation is ongoing.
