Charlie Kirk remembered at student-led vigil; Oakland University says they’re not affiliated with event

Supporters expressed admiration for Kirk’s passion for debate and his willingness to stand up for his beliefs

MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – Hundreds of supporters gathered to honor the life of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk at a vigil held at Oakland University.

The event was held on Monday (Sept. 15) and organized by the school’s College Republicans branch and Turning Point USA, the organization Kirk founded.

Supporters expressed admiration for Kirk’s passion for debate and his willingness to stand up for his beliefs.

It is important to note that Oakland University did not sponsor or endorse the vigil.

Investigators said the man accused of killing conservative commentator Charlie Kirk had been tracking him online prior to the attack.

The gunman, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, also studied the Utah Valley University campus in the days leading up to the shooting.

Federal officials report that DNA evidence links Robinson to the crime scene, including the gun used in the shooting.

The FBI said they’re reviewing Robinson’s digital footprint, which reportedly shows a fixation on Kirk and possible warning signs.

Robinson is currently facing state charges and could soon face federal charges related to the incident.
