Police respond to chemical spill near Rochester elementary school; all students, staff reported safe

ROCHESTER, Mich. – The Rochester Police Department and the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office are handling a situation regarding a chemical spill in the parking lot of McGregor Elementary School.

The incident occurred on Wednesday (Sept. 17) around 3:45 p.m.

Police reported that all students and staff members were accounted for and safe.

“Earlier today, at approximately 3:45 p.m., the McGregor Elementary School community was notified that an incident took place in the McGregor parking area.

The incident remains under police investigation. All McGregor Elementary School students and staff are safe."

Since it was close to dismissal time, all of the students were released from the west side of the building on Willow Grove.

Police are advising parents and guardians to plan accordingly and not to arrive for pickup on First Street.
