According to authorities, a 31-year-old from Lansing was driving north on US-23 in a dump truck with the hydraulic tilting bed still in the up position. The raised bed struck the Crouse Road bridge over the freeway, causing the Clyde Road Exit 70 sign to fall.

A Chevrolet Malibu driven by a 27-year-old from Bay County struck the sign as it was falling.

Neither drivers were injured.

The Michigan Department of Transportation will perform a detailed bridge inspection Friday to assess the damage.
