MONROE COUNTY, Mich. – A Monroe woman died, and another Monroe woman is injured after a crash Tuesday afternoon.
The crash happened just before 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 30 at the intersection of N Monroe Street and Mall Road in Frenchtown Township.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said a 57-year-old Monroe woman was driving a Ford Expedition south on Monroe Street in the left lane. As she entered the intersection of Mall Road, she crashed into a Ford Fusion, driven by a 27-year-old woman who was making a left turn onto westbound Mall Road from Monroe Street.
The driver of the Ford Fusion, Cloe Klatt, 27, died at the scene. According to the sheriff’s office, Klatt was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
The 57-year-old Monroe woman was taken to a local hospital and is expected to be OK.
The sheriff’s office said alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
