Child suffers non-life-threatening injuries after being hit by car while crossing street in Detroit Child has since been reunited with its family
DETROIT – An 8-year-old child suffered non-life-threatening injuries after being hit by a car while crossing the street in Detroit.
The incident occurred on Thursday (Oct. 2) at 4 p.m. at 2nd Avenue and Martin Luther King Blvd.
Police said the pedestrian cross sign was not illuminated for the child to walk, and the child walked out into oncoming traffic.
Officials said a vehicle that had the right of way struck the child and remained on scene, being cooperative with police.
Police said the child was transported to a Metro Detroit hospital by EMS with non-life-threatening injuries before being reunited with family.
