TROY, Mich. – A popular grocery store chain is closing one of its 4 stores in Metro Detroit.
Hollywood Markets in Troy is shutting its doors according to a Facebook post by the Welch Family and Holiday Markets. The post reads “with the retail climate and intense competition surrounding this store, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors at this location only.”
The Troy location was built in 1966, and according to Hollywood Markets’ website, the store opened in 1967 on Maple Rd.
The post goes on to say, “this decision will allow Hollywood Markets to keep our business strong at our other stores in Madison Heights, Royal Oak, and Bloomfield Hills, with an eye to a prosperous future.”
Employees at its Troy location will be offered position at the other 3 stores, according to the post.
“We know that we have your trust and appreciate everything the Troy and Birmingham communities have done for us over the past six decades. We will see you down the road,” the post concluded.
A closing date has not been announced.
