SOUTHGATE, Mich. – A 23-year-old man has died after being stabbed at a Kroger store in Southgate, police said.
Officers responded to the store at 16705 Fort Street after receiving a report of a stabbing at about 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2025.
When officers arrived, they found a victim with multiple stab wounds and started to administer first aid.
The victim, identified as a 23-year-old Southgate man, was taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.
A suspect was taken into custody at the scene, according to police. Police also said the suspect is believed to be a Kroger employee.
“This is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public,” police said in a press release.
The store is closed while police investigate.
