3 injured in fire at Oakland County apartment complex

People injured taken to local hospitals

FARMINGTON, Mich. – Three people were injured after a fire at an apartment complex in Farmington early Thursday morning.

The fire happened at around 3:20 a.m. on Oct. 9 at the Farmington Plaza Apartments on Shiawassee Street.

According to fire crews at the scene, three people were found outside the complex with injuries. They were taken to Detroit Receiving Hospital and Corewell Health. The severity of their injuries is not known.

When crews arrived at the scene, they saw heavy smoke and flames in one apartment on the first floor of the building. Officials said they were able to contain the fire to one apartment unit and put it out, but there may be smoke and water damage in the surrounding units.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
