Lions owner Sheila Ford Hamp presented Montgomery with the North Star Award on Oct. 7

DETROITDetroit Lions running back David Montgomery had a big week on and off the field.

Fresh off a strong performance against his hometown Cincinnati Bengals, Montgomery was honored with one of scouting’s highest accolades.

Lions owner Sheila Ford Hamp presented Montgomery with the North Star Award on Tuesday (Oct 7).

The award recognizes individuals who have made a “significant and lasting impact” on scouting.

Montgomery’s scouting journey began as a Cub Scout.

He eventually earned the rank of Eagle Scout at age 17 by leading donation drives at his high school football games to collect toiletries for the unhoused community.

Last year, Montgomery became Scouting America’s first recruitment ambassador, a role he continues to serve in today.
