MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – Afeni Badu Muhammad, who is accused of stabbing her manager to death at a Michigan McDonald’s restaurant, returned to court this week.
Muhammad, 27, of Eastpointe, was in court Wednesday for a hearing. She is charged in connection with the death of 39-year-old Jennifer Harris.
The last time Muhammad appeared in court was on Sept. 3.
On Oct. 8, a review hearing was held regarding Muhammad’s competency hearing.
Judge Kathleen Galen said Muhammad was found competent to stand trial based on the competency hearing on Sept. 17.
Galen then scheduled Muhammad’s preliminary hearing for Nov. 14 at 8 a.m. In this hearing, the judge will determine if there’s enough evidence to send the case to trial.
Muhammad’s next court appearance is on Nov. 12 for a motion hearing.
Charges
Muhammad has been charged with first-degree murder, carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent and being a habitual offender, second offense.
Bond set at $25M
Muhammad’s bond was set at $25 million, cash/surety.
If she posts bond and is released, she must:
- She must wear a steel cuff GPS tether
- She can’t leave the state of Michigan
- She must report a change of address within 24 hours
- She must have stringent daily contact with community corrections about her whereabouts
- She must undergo alcohol and drug testing
- She can’t have any contact with the family of the victim or witnesses
- She can’t return to the McDonald’s location
