MACOMB COUNTY, Mich. – A portion of westbound I-94 in Macomb County will be closed this weekend for emergency bridge beam demolition, officials said.
Starting at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18, westbound I-94 will be closed between I-696 and M-102 (8 Mile Road), according to the Michigan Department of Transportation.

This comes after the Frazho Road bridge over I-94 was damaged in a crash last month.

During this weekend’s closure, crews will remove the damaged bridge beam.
The following ramps will also be closed this weekend:
- Eastbound I-696 to westbound I-94.
- 12 Mile Road to westbound I-94.
- Eastbound and westbound 11 Mile Road to westbound I-94.
- 10 Mile Road to westbound I-94.
- 9 Mile Road to westbound I-94.
MDOT said that westbound I-94 traffic will be detoured via westbound I-696, southbound M-3 (Gratiot Avenue) and eastbound M-102 (8 Mile Road) to get to westbound I-94.
Crews are expected to reopen westbound I-94 by 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 19, 2025.
Later this fall, crews will complete more repairs to reopen eastbound Frazho Road at I-94. It will stay closed in the westbound direction until crews can make final repairs in 2026, according to MDOT.
