CANTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A Canton Township man accused of stabbing three family members was arraigned Thursday and given a $3 million cash bond.
Derek Attee Alesmaily, 23, appeared virtually in 35th District Court in the afternoon on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025, and was arraigned on three counts of assault with intent to murder, three counts of assault with intent to do great bodily and three counts of felonious assault. He is also being charged as a second offense habitual offender.

At about 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, police responded to a home in the 3700 block of Parklawn Drive after receiving a report of a stabbing.
When they arrived, officers found two victims in the driveway and one in the roadway in front of the home with multiple stab wounds.
The victims, identified as Alesmailey’s 42-year-old mother, 21-year-old brother, both of Canton Township, and 22-year-old sister, of Dearborn, were taken to a local hospital.
They all remain in serious condition, but are stable, according to Canton Township police.
Alesmaily allegedly stabbed the victims with a knife multiple times before leaving the scene. He was arrested a short time later.
He has a criminal history, which includes failing to stop at the scene of an accident and a bank robbery. Alesmaily was incarcerated and was recently paroled a few months ago.
Judge Michael Gerou issued Alesmaily a $3 million cash bond, no 10%. If released, he must wear a GPS tether.
Alemaily’s probable cause conference was scheduled for Oct. 24, and a preliminary examination was scheduled for Oct. 31.
