Michigan gas prices have fallen to their lowest level since 2021, with the state average dropping 13 cents from last week to $2.79 per gallon for regular unleaded gas, according to AAA.
The current state average sits well below the national average of $3.04 per gallon. In Detroit, drivers are paying $2.85 per gallon.
The price decrease reflects several factors, including the continued use of winter-blend fuel, which costs less to produce than summer-blend gasoline. Lower demand and declining crude oil prices are also contributing to the downward trend.
Michigan motorists are seeing significant savings compared to recent months. Current prices are 41 cents lower than a month ago and 49 cents less than this time last year.
While some locations aren’t following the lower price trend, multiple gas stations in Warren are charging $2.83 per gallon, with potential additional savings for cash payments.
