Royal Oak stabbing leaves 83-year-old man dead, investigation underway

Police found victim unresponsive in basement with multiple stab wounds

ROYAL OAK, Mich. – An 83-year-old man died Friday night after being stabbed in Royal Oak, police say.

Officers were called around 9:30 p.m. on Oct. 24 to the 4300 block of Sheridan Drive after a man was heard calling for help.

Upon arrival, officers arrested a 35-year-old woman with blood on her hands after a brief chase.

Inside the home, they found the elderly man unresponsive in the basement with multiple stab wounds.

Despite emergency medical efforts by Royal Oak officers and Fire Department paramedics, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect is known to both the victim and the homeowner and was a guest at the residence during the incident.

The investigation remains ongoing.
