35-year-old suspect in custody, police say

ROYAL OAK, Mich. – An 83-year-old man was killed in a stabbing on Friday night in Royal Oak, where police found a 35-year-old woman with blood on her hands after responding to a call of a man crying for help.

At 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24, 2025, officers responded to a home in the 4300 block of Sheridan Drive after receiving a report of a man calling out for help.

When officers arrived, they found a 35-year-old woman who had blood on her hands, and she was detained after a short foot chase, according to police.

Inside the home, they found an 83-year-old man in the basement, unresponsive, with multiple stab wounds.

Police and fire officials attempted emergency medical care, but the 83-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 35-year-old woman and the victim knew each other, according to police.

The victim didn’t live at the home where this happened, but is related to the homeowner.

Police said the woman is a family acquaintance and was a guest at the home at the time of the stabbing.

The suspect is being held at the Royal Oak Police Department.

The investigation is ongoing and is pending a review by the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office.
