MDOT invites Detroit residents to meeting on I-375 transformation

DETROIT – The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is hosting its 12th community meeting to discuss the I-375 project in Detroit.

The project aims to transform the 60-year-old, 1.1-mile connector with I-75 into a boulevard that will reconnect Lafayette Park with Downtown Detroit, stretching from Gratiot Avenue to the Riverfront.

The proposed Boulevard will be six lanes between the interchanges with I-75 and Jefferson Avenue and will also include a two-way cycle track on the east side of the boulevard for the first time since construction began on it in 1959.

At the meeting, attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with the project team and partners. They will learn about the current project pause, what has been accomplished so far, proposed revisions to the project, and details on upcoming utility upgrade construction activities.

The meeting will take place at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Eastern, located at 3434 Russel Street in Detroit.
