LIVONIA, Mich. – The hours-long barricaded gunman situation in Livonia has ended as the suspect has been arrested, according to the police.
Police said weapons had been recovered and there was no further threat to the community.
It was alleged that the man fired shots during the incident.
The incident occurred on Wednesday (Oct. 29) around 10 a.m. when police were called to a home on Ann Arbor Trail near Wayne Road for a welfare check.
Out of caution, police said they’d set up a perimeter around the home.
Officials at the scene said the man had a history of mental illness, and officers had been called to the Livonia home before.
Police said the 35-year-old man lives with his grandparents, but they were not home at the time.
Officials also said the man had not been responsive to their demands prior to his arrest around 10 p.m.
A stretch of Ann Arbor Trail has since reopened.
