5 injured after 77-year-old woman crashes into Bloomfield Township restaurant

BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Five people were injured after a 77-year-old woman crashed her vehicle into a Bloomfield Township restaurant, causing major structural damage.

The crash occurred on Thursday (Nov. 6) at 1:41 p.m. at Thai Taste to Go on Telegraph Road.

Police said arriving units confirmed a passenger vehicle had crashed into the storefront.

Officials said Bloomfield Fire and EMS, along with West Bloomfield Township EMS, assessed six patients.

Police said five patients were taken to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials said one individual was treated on the scene and released.

Police said the 77-year-old woman from Bloomfield Hills was operating the vehicle.

Officials said the cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Bloomfield Township Police Department.

Fire personnel secured the utilities, and representatives from the Bloomfield Township Building Department and Water Department assessed the building’s structural damage.

Police said businesses within the shopping center will be closed until repairs are completed and safety is reassessed.
