Up to 2 inches of snow reported in parts of Metro Detroit during first snowfall of the season

Winter weather arrives Sunday with snow and wintry mix in Southeast Michigan

Snow totals (WDIV)

As expected, the season’s first round of winter weather moved into Metro Detroit Sunday morning.

Grass was already dusted with snow by the time most Metro Detroiters woke up on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2025.

Late Sunday morning, the snow showers will switch over to a rain-snow mix.

However, any rain or wintry mix will fully change over to snow by late Sunday night, with snow continuing into Monday.

The further north and west you are in Metro Detroit, the colder the air remains, meaning snow showers will be the primary form of precipitation for much of the day.

Snowfall totals reported Sunday include:

  • Adrian, Lenawee County: 2.0 inches
  • Ann Arbor, Washtenaw County: 1.4 inches
  • Manchester, Washtenaw County: 1.0 inch

This marks the official first accumulating snow of the season.

The colder air lingering northwest of Metro Detroit means snow showers will dominate there for much of the day, signaling the start of the region’s winter weather season.
