Sinkhole causes weeks-long closure on Martinsville Road in Wayne County

Sumpter Township drivers advised to plan detours

SUMPTER TOWNSHIP, Mich. – A road in Sumpter Township will be closed for a significant amount of time due to a sinkhole.

According to authorities, the large sinkhole on Martinsville Road formed due to the collapse of a culvert underneath. The road will be closed south of Dunn Road for several weeks as the Wayne County Road Commission makes repairs.
