1,500 pounds of marijuana seized in Macomb County drug bust

Guns, trucks, drugs seized

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Roughly 1,500 pounds of marijuana were seized by authorities in a large Shelby Township drug bust.

According to authorities, four search warrants were executed at three homes and a business in Shelby Township on Nov. 6.

In addition to the marijuana, authorities reportedly seized hundreds of THC vape pens, gummies, edibles, five guns, $380,000 in cash, five vehicles, and small amounts of crack cocaine, ketamine and mushrooms.

Three men from Shelby Township were arrested: 21-year-old Mark Gojcaj, 30-year-old Fabio Asmar, and 35-year-old Martino Abed.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office said the three operated a “sophisticated, multi-state trafficking network” that sold bulk marijuana quantities ranging from 6 to 150 pounds, mostly to buyers outside Michigan.

All three men have been charged with delivery and manufacture of 45 kilograms of marijuana, conspiracy to commit controlled substance delivery or manufacture and maintaining a drug house.

They were all granted a $100,000 cash-only bond.
