The St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office said on social media Tuesday that they have been searching the area she was last seen based on cellular information. On Nov. 10, investigators learned she may have gone into the water near the Algonac Boat Launch.
The St. Clair County Marine Division went out to the water and used sonar to search the area. They then found a car submerged in the water, close to where the last cell phone data was received.
The St. Clair County Dive Team responded, as well as dive teams from multiple groups in Southeast Michigan, and found Clowney’s car and her body. They brought Clowney and the car to the surface and safely removed her and the car from the water.
Her cause of death is not yet known.
