DETROIT – A mother is hospitalized after her son allegedly shot her multiple times Thursday afternoon on Detroit’s west side.
The shooting happened at a home in the 16700 block of Rutherford at around 1 p.m. on Nov. 13.
According to Captain Matthew Bray with the Detroit Police Department’s 8th precinct, officers responded to the shooting and found the 78-year-old woman with multiple gunshot wounds.
The woman was taken to a local hospital for her injuries and is stable.
Bray said while officers were at the scene, they were able to place the woman’s son, who is in his 50s, into custody. Police also found multiple weapons in the home.
It’s not yet known what sparked the shooting, and Bray said the facts and circumstances surrounding the situation are still under investigation.
