MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. – A woman has been sentenced in Mount Clemens after pleading guilty to charges related to the shooting of her father.

At a hearing in Macomb County Circuit Court, a judge sentenced 21-year-old Cheyenne Randolph to 24 months of probation and placed her under Holmes Youthful Trainee Status, or HYTA.

This means if she completes her probation successfully, she won’t have a criminal record for this case.

Randolph must follow several rules during her probation: no contact with her father, no drugs or alcohol, and she has to keep a job.

She’s also required to attend counseling, a cognitive restructuring program, and work toward getting her GED.

The judge warned that if she doesn’t meet these conditions, her probation could be revoked and she might face a harsher sentence.

The shooting happened on Feb. 23, 2024, when Randolph got into an argument with her father.

Things escalated, and she fired four shots, hitting him twice.

Fortunately, the injuries were not life-threatening.

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido commented on the case, saying, “I do not take lightly the circumstances that brought her here, but in addition to seeking justice, my office believes in rehabilitation. Her sentencing under HYTA is a privilege—one that she now has the responsibility to honor. I certainly hope she successfully completes the terms of her probation.”
