DETROIT – A 21-year-old man has been charged in connection with the death of a 3-year-old girl from Detroit.
On Nov. 15, 2024, prosecutors say Lovenia Spivey caused fatal injuries to the toddler at a home in the 14000 block of Riverview Street on Detroit’s west side.

Spivey is the boyfriend of the child’s mother, according to prosecutors.
Paramedics rushed the girl to a hospital, but she died on Nov. 18, 2024.
The medical examiner ruled blunt force trauma to the head as the cause of death.
Detroit police arrested Spivey on Nov. 14, 2025, following their investigation.
He faces charges of felony murder and first-degree child abuse.
