Four colleges in Michigan have been named among the best schools for future leaders, according to a ranking by TIME.

For “The Best Colleges for Future Leaders 2026″ rankings, TIME and Statista “analyzed a diverse group of 4,800 of the most influential figures shaping U.S. society today—from policymakers and corporate executives to leading scientists, educators, and cultural innovators."

Many of the schools at the top of the list stay the same each year, which highlights the influence of well-established universities, according to TIME.

However, several new colleges earned a spot on the list this year, including HBCUs, liberal-arts schools and state universities. This shows the “increasingly diverse background of young leaders,” according to TIME.

The following colleges ranked among the top five on the list of 125 schools:

  • Harvard University
  • Stanford University
  • Yale University
  • Massachusetts Institute of Technology
  • Columbia University

The four Michigan colleges that made the list include the following:

  • University of Michigan (No. 11)
  • Michigan State University (No. 40)
  • Wayne State University (No. 83)
  • Central Michigan University (No. 119)
