DEARBORN, Mich. – One of the men connected to the death of a Dearborn florist has been convicted of murder.
In September 2023, Hassan Salame was killed after having dinner with his family. They said he was ambushed, shot and had his watch, keys and necklace taken just steps outside the front door of the restaurant.

He was rushed to Corewell Hospital, where he died.
Four people have been taken into custody in his death.
In March, Dawanne Jerome Midgett was arrested by Dearborn police and charged with felony murder, armed robbery, conspiracy to commit armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a felon, and four counts of felony firearm.
On Tuesday, Nov. 25, a jury convicted Midgett on all counts. He is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 23, 2026.
He faces the possibility of spending his life in prison.
