PLYMOUTH, Mich. – A popular Main Street restaurant in Plymouth will close its doors this month after its building was sold.

Bodes Corned Beef House posted to social media that they are heartbroken and that closing is not something they wanted to do, but they have no choice, as the building was sold to a new company.

The restaurant’s last day open will be Dec. 19, but they said they hope to reopen someday if possible.

"We are heartbroken to be unable to serve the Plymouth community for longer, but are so grateful for the six decades of watching families gather and children grow up,“ the restaurant posted on social media. ”We’re so thankful for your patience and understanding during this time; we truly treasure the shared experiences and laughter shared with all of you.“

To support staff, a Christmas party fundraiser is planned for Dec. 15, with an entry fee of $20, offering food and drinks from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

“We encourage you to visit us in these last weeks and have one last corned beef meal as an homage to Bodes," they wrote.
