Snow possible in Metro Detroit following record low temperatures -- Here’s how much to expect

1-2 inches of snow possible on Sunday morning

There is a chance for light snow in Metro Detroit this weekend. (WDIV)

After a record-breaking low of 5 degrees Thursday night, we stay in the upper teens and low 20s Friday night.

We can’t rule out a little light snow north of M-59, and the rest of Metro Detroit could get some very light freezing drizzle through early Saturday morning.

The region could also see a little snow melt Saturday with highs getting to around 34 degrees, but clouds and flurries will keep a chill in the air.

Saturday is the better day for Christmas shopping. Snow moves in early Sunday morning and will bring a quick 1-2 inches of accumulation.

A series of clipper systems brings multiple chances for snow and ice this coming week.
